What Price Will You Pay for Revival

The picture above is a booklet that I wrote recently to distribute to local pastors in the New Orleans area and beyond. The whole premise is that Christians in America are praying for revival, but are we willing to pay the price? A couple of years ago, I wrote a book which I titled ONE NATION UNDER GOD? which was inspired as a result of my prayer walk up the Mississippi River. Since we are truly a “Faith Based Ministry” and refuse to rely on our ability to give persuasive speeches or to send out newsletters to convince people to “sow into our ministry”, my books have a limited circulation because we home publish them. I have given out around 700 of them so far…and they don’t look that bad!

Anyway, this booklet “Cry Aloud” is a result of the observations I have made of the organized church since working at a Hurricane Katrina relief center in the New Orleans area, and how the church has strayed so far from what Normal Christianity is because of the leavening influences that have crept in. What follows is the booklet in its entirety…If we truly want revival, we desperately need to shake off the leaven that has crept into the Church. The Pharisees and the Sadducees of Jesus’ day are just as prevalent in the ministry today as they were back then, only this time they are not the Jewish leaders…their leavening influence has crept into the Christian Church, and true revival cannot come unless we get rid of the leaven. We are at a critical crossroads in our nation. The Church and its leaders need to get serious with the things of God. If you agree with the contents of these web pages, feel free to print them out and distribute them to the pastors and ministries in your area. Or if you send a self addressed stamped envelope to me (the envelope needs to be at least 6×9) or just a stamp or stamps for however many booklets you desire (.41 will be sufficient for the booklet without an envelope) I will send it to you.

My Personal Testimony

Drugs. Alcohol. Unrestrained sexual lusts. A criminal mind. Prison time for robbery. Liar. Cheat. Pimp. Deciet. Selfishness.

The Bible says that those who live like I had lived cannot enter the Kingdom of God. But then it says

Too often, I hear of people dwelling more on their life before Christ, than what their life in Christ is now. I don’t particularly care to dwell on what I was outside of Jesus. Suffice it to say that JESUS SET ME FREE!

In the fall of 1983 ( September 6th) I was headed for Salt Lake City, Utah, after a six month visit to my home town in Northern Minnesota. I had spent a couple of months in jail for trying to outrun a game warden, which resulted in a head-on collision with the game warden (it’s a long story), but it didn’t stop there. My engine was still running, the game warden’s head was on the steering wheel, and I thought I’d killed him. I put my car in reverse, went around him, and soon was facing a road block, which I attempted to run through, but my tire blew before I could do it. Praise the Lord. I would have probably been killed, because the officers had their guns trained on me, just as the tire blew.

Anyway, after some jail time, I headed for Salt Lake City to go to work on a highline tower construction job. I told the girl I had spent the summer with (the part of summer that I wasn’t in jail) that I would come back to get her after I got settled in Salt Lake City. I was lying to her. I liked her, but I couldn’t stay faithful to one woman. On the way, I thought I would stop and say good bye to a couple of ex-party friends of mine, Dave and Lorinda Nasson. Dave was a big Chippewa indian who I used to party with, and some times he would get very violent when he got drunk. Lorinda was the sister of the girl I was leaving behind. She used to get high all the time. But now they were Christians, and they didn’t do the things they used to do. Even though I knew they would preach to me, I stopped anyway, because Christian or no, they were still my friends.

Sure enough, when I got there, they started telling me about Jesus. My time in prison had given me three and a half years to study philosophy and religion, so I had all sorts of arguements to offer them. Every thing they told me went in one ear and out the other, because I figured that they were just too close minded for me to reason with them. After all, I had studied Buddhism, Hinduism, Astrology, Palmistry, witchcraft, and American Indian Religions; I had read the Bhagavad Ghita, the Koran, the Satanic Bible by Anton Lavey, and the Life of Buddah, and a number of other books on religion and philosophy; I had studied the writings of Gurdjeiff and Confucious and Mencius, and several other confused teachers who claimed enlightenment. I had practiced yoga, and experimented with meditation and dabbled in the Occult. For some one to tell me that Jesus was the ONLY WAY, was just too unreasonable to me.

Oh, I believed in Jesus. Historically, there was no doubt that He existed. But I thought He was just a good man, a prophet, a sage, a shaman, a yogi, a guru, a man who had reached a higher level of consciousness than most men had ever reached. I thought He was like Buddha, or Muhammad. But no way would I be close minded enough to say He was the ONLY WAY. But one time, a man held a gun to my head, and outwardly, I defied him to pull the trigger, but inwardly, I prayed to Jesus to get me out of this one. Another time I had spent 48 hours in a Minnesota blizzard with little more than a sweater and a couple of pairs of pants and a thin summer sleeping bag. I called on Jesus then, too. Another time, when I was hitchhiking in Idaho, my packsack was all that was between me and a rattlesnake. I was talking to Jesus then, as well. Several other times, I had been in danger, and each time I called on Jesus, not to mention the many times I spent hugging a commode after a long hard drunken binge, puking my guts out, and swearing to Jesus that I’d never do THAT again.

Anyway, I stood there arguing and philosophizing with Dave and Lorinda, and Dave’s sister for three and a half hours, trying to get them to see my point. During those three and a half hours, Dave would repeat one phrase over and over again. He’d say: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen.” I didn’t know what that meant, it didn’t make any sense to me, and after a while, I began to conclude that maybe the reason he had become a Christian was because the drugs had gotten to his mind, because he just kept on repeating that phrase over and over again. It got so that I would know when he was going to say it, because he would get this funny look on his face, and say, “Now….” and inwardly, I would say it with him…”Yeah, yeah, ‘faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen'”.

After about three hours, their pastor, Lonnie Lee and his wife, Patty came over and joined them while they witnessed to me. After another half hour, I said, “Look guys, I have a long way to go yet, so I really should be going.” Lonnie asked if they could pray with me. I told them sure, they could pray for me all they want. I didn’t realize they meant right there. They grabbed hold of my arm, and led me to the kitchen and sat me down on a chair and started to pray for me. My head was down, and it was hard for me to keep from laughing because Dave, that big once-so-violent man was saying “oh, yes, Jesus”, and it seemed so out of character with the Dave I had known. I left, after Lonnie explained that they had prayed that God would reveal Himself to me through the Holy Spirit.

About 150-200 miles down the road, I checked into a motel in Fairbault, Minnesota. There was a bar near by, but I knew that if I went to the bar at 7:00 in the evening, there was a good chance that I would spend too much of my travelling money, so I sat in my room, and a sudden restlessness came over me. I turned on the television, but I always thought the television was a waste of time, so I just went through the channels and turned it off. I noticed a Bible on the bedstand, but I ignored it, and went and took a shower.

When I came out of the shower, as I dried my hair, I noticed that Gideon’s Bible again. I picked it up, and said a prayer, something like: “God, you had five of Your best people telling me about Jesus today. If Jesus is the ONLY WAY, if You think I can be a Christian, and if You think you could forgive me for my sins, now’s the time to tell me.” When you are alone in a motel room, you can get serious with God, and no one will care, because no one will see you. I opened the Bible, and expected some thunder, a loud voice, an earthquake or an angel to appear, but nothing happened. I laid down on the bed and started to read right where I had opened the Bible to.

The Bible had opened to the book of Romans. I naturally started to read at the top left hand corner of the left hand page, and by the time I got to the last verse at the bottom right hand corner of the right page, I was ready to conclude that there was nothing there for me. No thunder, no Voice from heaven, no earthquake, no angel to tell me that Jesus was the ONLY WAY. Not only that, but I couldn’t even remember what I had just read. To me, the text had been dry and boring. I figured it was time to go to the bar. But there was a part of me that really knew what the Truth was, and that part of me persuaded me to read just a little more. So I read the rest of the page, and went to turn the page.

Now, I was lying flat on my back, and as I turned the page, I stretched my arms above me and yawned. As I did so, a page came floating out of the Bible and landed on my chest. I picked up that page, and my eyes went instantly to the chapter that was in bold print. “CHAPTER 11″. I read the first verse under chapter 11, and it said “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen”. Immediately, I remembered Dave saying that verse over and over again. I looked at the page number. Page 913. (I kept the page). I used to go to the horse track at Delta Downs in Vinton, Louisiana almost on a weekly basis when I lived in Houston. I understood the odds of that particular page falling out on my chest. When I acknowledged the impossibility of that happening, God touched me with His Sweet Holy Spirit. I gave my heart to Him right then and there. He had answered my questions. Yes, Jesus was the ONLY WAY, Yes, I could be a Christian, and Yes, He would forgive my sins. I forgot about the bar. I stayed there and read the rest of Hebrews 11, and understood what it was saying. I stayed up late into the night, reading and understanding the Word of God.

I was in Salt Lake City for a month, when the Lord put a great desire in my heart for that girl I had left behind. I asked Him to join our hearts together. Then I drove all the way back to Minnesota, and told her about my conversion. Michelle wanted Jesus too. Since that day we have been together, and are happily married, with five children, and have been on a wonderful journey of faith and growth together in the things of God.

How Our Ministry Developed

WRITTEN IN 1999 – After Michelle and I got saved in 1983, the Lord did some mighty things in our lives. There are many testimonies we have accumulated since then, and though I revel in His grace, and mercy, and love to speak of the wondrous things He has done in our lives, time and space would not allow me the opportunity to speak of them all. But I want to give a testimony of the circumstances that led us to the ministry the Lord has given us. My prayer is that it blesses and encourages those who read it.

The reason I even want to include this account in my site is not to boast in my accomplishments, but rather to show the reader that you don’t need a special degree or title or pledges for financial support to minister in the service of the Lord.

Notice how I stumbled through each phase of the development of the ministry. The Lord sustained me through it all. All He requires is willingness and obedience. These two characteristics He will always bless.

Over the years, I have been priveleged to pray one on one with thousands to recieve Jesus. This is not to boast…truly, any accomplshments I have had are from the Lord. I am not a great and eloquent speaker, nor am I a scholar or a theologian. I only tell you this to encourage you. If I can do it, ANYONE CAN DO IT! Just be obedient to the call of the Lord in your life.

Our first six months in the Lord Jesus Christ were spent in Salt Lake City. There the Lord blessed us mightily, in teaching us to hear His voice and to learn of His Love for us.

Circumstances eventually led to us losing our car (it was parked in an alley for too many days, because the battery was dead and it was impounded). As the wrecker was hooking up to the car, I tried to talk the driver into unhooking the car, and I would move it somewhere else. The driver told me he would, if I could pay him 50.00 for the hook up fee.

I didn’t have the money. I had given up on the Highline job I had gone there to work…I felt led of the Lord to quit the union, so we were scraping by with spot jobs at job service, living basically from day to day, and watching the Lord provide for us.

Our car was important to our work…no car meant no work. It was February, and as we watched the tow truck pull the car away, I walked to the apartment, asking the Lord, “Why?” Even at that young age in the Lord, I didn’t point a finger at Him, or wasn’t angry with Him for allowing that to happen…(I’ve had many people testify to me that they have been angry at the Lord. I can’t ever remember a time that I was…) I understand that He is Sovereign, and my life is in His hands. So I wasn’t angry…I was just wondering why He allowed that to happen. It didn’t make any sense to me. Soon the rent would be due, it was February, and what would we do?

Once inside the apartment, Michelle and I prayed, asking our Father to help us to understand. As we prayed, I opened the Bible. When I opened the Bible, my eyes landed on Hebrews 10:34 (ASV):

34. For ye both had compassion on them that were in bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your possessions, knowing that ye have for yourselves a better possession and an abiding one.

As I read that, Michelle and I started laughing and joyfully took the spoiling of our old Vega.We were sure that the Lord was up to something good. A few weeks later, we couldn’t pay our rent, so we loaded up my duffel bag and a pack sack, and left Salt Lake City, hitchhiking towards California, but not knowing where we were going.

We knew that we would not ask any one for anything, and that we would make our needs known only to God. Beyond that, we didn’t have a clue as to where we were going, and what we were going to do.

We hitchhiked for two months, during which time, the Lord mightily blessed us with an awareness of His presence in our lives. Every day brought a testimony of new levels of Faith that the Lord brought us to. He gave us many opportunities to witness to whoever picked us up, and we were always blessed.

I will relate just a couple of the incidents here, just to give the reader an idea of the things we experienced.

We were in Auburn, California. We had left a lot of things behind when we left Salt Lake City, but we brought what we could with us, as well. This made for some heavy burdens on our back. I carried the duffel bag, and Michelle carried the Back pack.

Our progress through town was at the pace of two blocks at a time, then we would rest for ten minutes or so, and walk another two blocks. As we made our way slowly through the town, we eventually came to a bakery. In the window were all kinds of wonderful looking pastries. What grabbed our attention was a sign that advertised apple fritters, two for a dollar.

The fritters looked huge. We hadn’t eaten breakfast yet, and both of us were hungry. We didn’t have a dollar, not even fifty cents – I think I counted out thirty-some cents – but we looked in that window and talked about how great those fritters looked to us. Soon, though, we just committed it to the Lord, and knew that we would not go hungry that day. But as we walked away from the bakery, we couldn’t help but talk about those fritters and how good they looked.

A couple of blocks farther down the road, we found a large brick planter outside a lawyer’s office. A perfect place to rest. As we sat there, we spoke some more about the fritters. Soon, we decided it was time to go. As I started to help Michelle with her back pack, something caught my eye.

There, right behind where I had been sitting, was a crisp one dollar bill, folded lengthwise!

Our eyes got huge as we rejoiced in the Lord’s provision. I took the backpack off Michelle’s back, and she ran to the bakery and bought two apple fritters. As I said before, they were HUGE, and they were absolutely delicious. Wonderful Jesus! Manna fritters. For the record…Michelle and I occasionally buy apple fritters as a remembrance of the Lord’s provision….we have never found any fritters that were as good as those two we had that day.

Never once did we go without food when we needed it. The Lord has always been faithful to supply our needs.

We got into Lake Tahoe early in the morning. As we stood there in town, it started to snow. Big wet flakes came down. We had a few dollars, so we went into a store and bought a couple of ponchos to keep us dry.

The Lord had enabled us to always have clean clothes; we always were able to afford a laundromat when we needed one. But this day, we were down to our last change of clean clothes, and we had spent our money on the ponchos.

All day we stood there, trying to get a ride, but to no avail. After several hours we started trying to analyze what the Lord was doing. We knew He would never let us down…but we started eyeing the camp grounds across the street, figuring we could pitch our tent if we had to, and keep each other warm.

The issues we were talking about as we stood there, was the fact that we needed a shower and we needed to wash our clothes. Never once did we question whether God would come through for us…It was more like, “what was he up to?” We figured that there was someone who the Lord wanted us to tell about Him, but they hadn’t gotten there yet.

From early in the morning, to about 5:00 that evening, we stood in that spot, trying to get a ride. No one would stop. Finally, a car stopped. The man in the car told us that he had seen us standing there that morning. When he saw us still standing there, he knew he had to pick us up. He was the director of a alcoholic recovery retreat, and he told us that all of his cabins were vacant. We were welcome to stay the night if we wanted to. He also told us that if we had any laundry we needed to do, there was a washer and dryer in the cabin we would be staying in. Wonderful Jesus! The man blessed us with a cabin, laundry facilities, showers, and a large kettle of stew. We were blessed.

The next day he drove us to the out skirts of town. He wasn’t even out of sight when a car stopped to pick us up. The man and woman who picked us up explained to us that there had been chain restrictions the day before, and the restrictions had just been lifted. They told us they were picking us up to help with the weight. As we rode, the Lord gave us a great opportunity to witness to them of God’s love and the need for Jesus Christ in their lives. We were young Christians, and didn’t really know a lot, but the Lord used us on that ride to plant some wonderful seed. The man an woman were thanking us when they let us out of the car. We were learning that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to His purpose.

Every day we had a testimony of the Lord working in our lives. We were totally dependent on Him. He always came through for us.

We traveled for two months like that, and eventually ended up in Arizona. We spent four years there. During that time, our two oldest daughters, Talitha and Feather were born.

All of our children were born at home, and I have been privileged and blessed to deliver them all. The majority of the time we were in Chino Valley, Arizona, I worked as a carpenter. I also worked as a concrete worker, and a landscaper while we were there. We were doing pretty well for ourselves…we had all we needed, owned all that we had (no debt), were settled in, and had a small trailer we called home.

Every morning for the three and a half years that we spent in Chino Valley, (our first 6 months in Arizona we lived in the White mountains) I would get up at 5:00, and study the Word of God before I went to work at 7:00. I studied the Word every morning, seven days a week for the three and a half years we were there, using Strong’s concordance, Thayer’s, Vine’s, and the Englishman’s Concordance. On Saturdays and Sundays I would spend several hours in the study of the Word. I had an insatiable hunger for the Word of God.

One Sunday, I was sitting at the table, studying God’s Word, when He spoke to me. “What are you doing for me?” I was witnessing to who ever I worked with. I was living a relatively clean life before the Lord…and I told Him so. He asked again…”What are you doing for me.” He quickened my memory to the verse in Hebrews that says “without faith it is impossible to please God….”, and immediately, I remembered how totally dependant we were on Him for those two months. He reminded me of all the wonderful things He had done during that time.

We were aware that He provided for our needs, but it wasn’t the same any more. I was growing in knowledge of the things of God, but where was I when it came to faith? I suddenly had a crazy thought. I looked at my wife, and asked her: “Do you remember when we hitchhiked through California, and how close we were to God, because we had to rely on Him for everything?” She said she did. “Well, what would you say if we sold everything, got a bus, and just traveled for Jesus, and let Him guide us where He wants us?” Michelle said “If that’s what the Lord wants, that’s what we will do.” So it was settled. Now all we had to do was make sure this was of God and just not my own idea. So I put it in God’s hands.

Right here I want to give credit where credit is due. Most women who have a home and two children and financial security would cringe at the prospect of leaving all that for the uncertainties of life on the road and in a 1949 Ford bus, at that! I have met many brothers who have a call for evangelism, and who find much opposition from their wives when it comes to going out on the streets just for an evening. So many people are so into their comfort…that their service to God is dependent on convenience, rather than motivated by a desire to please Him. In 11 years of being on the road, I have never heard my wife complain of being on the road.

Later that day, we went out yard saling. We weren’t even looking for a bus, but we found one. It was a 1949 Ford. The man wanted $800.00 for it. I bought it, and we had a yard sale of our own and sold most of our stuff, and used the money to convert the bus. Some friends of ours, Bob and Anette helped us build the bus. The last thing we did was put our trailer up for sale. It sold in a week. We left shortly afterwards, having no idea at all where we were going. We just threw ourselves in the arms of our Father. We had no idea how long we were going to travel, (certainly, we did not think we’d be at it for 11 years!) or even what our calling was…

On the back of the bus we painted a huge sign that said “faithwalkin’ “. We painted several scriptures in various easy to read places. We were leaving our city, not knowing where we would end up. We made a covenant with the Lord that we would let no one know of our needs, and I would work with my own two hands to supply our needs. The Lord would have to supply the work as we travelled.

Talitha was 2, and Feather was almost 1 at the time. There are so many testimonies I could share…God is faithful. Many people would approach me, curious about the bus. There aren’t too many 1949s out there these days. They’d want to look at the old flathead engine. Each time this would open a door for me to witness to them, and tell them about Jesus. I was leading people to the Lord , and still did not realize my calling. Others would approach us because of the scriptures that were written on the bus.

I began to think that the Lord intended me to witness to the ones who approached me, which were a lot of people…I had no inclination to “go out” to witness to people. I was leading many to the Lord just through them coming to me. I had the faith to believe each one was a divine appointment, and that the Lord was drawing them into His kingdom.

About three months after we left Arizona, we were in Sydney Nebraska. My dad was dying of colon cancer in Salt Lake City. It was winter, and the mountains between him and us were treacherous, and the brakes on the bus were not the greatest. But I wanted my Dad to see his grand daughters before he passed into Glory. We sought the Lord. That night I dreamed that I was telling a friend of mine about Jesus. Michelle also dreamed that she was telling a friend of hers about Jesus. Both of our friends who were in our dreams lived in Florida. We took that as the direction from the Lord that we had been seeking…So we started for Florida. It took us seven years to get to Florida. We lived in the ’49 for one year.

We wintered in Lincoln, Nebraska, parked at the People’s City Mission, while I worked for a construction company as a tender for some brick layers. One evening, I told my wife that I felt that I could relate to the homeless guys better than the people who came in to minister at the chapel services every night, BECAUSE WE WERE WHERE THEY WERE AT…AT STREET LEVEL.

I told her that I would like the opportunity to preach to them. She told me she was sure that if I mentioned it to the workers there, they would probably give me an opportunity to preach in the chapel some night. I told her that I didn’t want to make anything happen. If the Lord wanted me to share to the men, He would open the door for me to do so. That way I could know I was in His Will. Two days later, Anita McCracken told me that a person who was scheduled to preach had cancelled, and that they needed someone to preach that night. She asked me if I would. I said “sure”. She said the only catch was that chapel was in 15 minutes, so I would have no time to prepare. I threw myself in the arms of my Father, and He mightily blessed me.

That whole month of February people kept on canceling their appointments. I probably preached 20 days out of that month. The Lord was training me for pulpit ministry.

Since then I have committed my ways to the Lord, and have made it an unswerving policy not to open any doors myself, but to walk through the ones that the Lord opens.

My mother came down to Lincoln to visit us, and Michelle went with her back to Minnesota for a week to visit relatives. While she was up there, she stopped in to see Lonnie Lee, a pastor friend of ours. (see my testimony). When she went to his house, Lonnie was praying to the Lord, asking Him what he should do about a bus he had. When he opened the door to his house, and saw Michelle, he knew the Lord had given him the answer. He asked Michelle how our bus was doing. The ’49 was losing power. I got stopped on the freeway once for going too slow! She said it wasn’t doing too well, but it would get us where we needed to go. Lonnie told her we could have his bus if we drove up to get it. A couple of months later, we went to Northern Minnesota, and our bus died just as we got to my home town, Margie.

We spent a year and a half there, building our new bus, and making it livable. The following spring we left Margie to continue our trek to Florida. But first, we went to Warroad, Minnesota, and spent about a month up there, ministering in the way the Lord had taught me, letting people come to the bus for ministry.

In St. Cloud Minnesota, a sister in the Lord named Betty Reardon told me that my calling was that of an evangelist. I never realized that, ALTHOUGH BY THAT TIME I HAD LED LOTS OF PEOPLE TO THE LORD. She asked me if I ever handed out tracts, I told her that I let the Lord bring people to me. She gave me a box of tracts, and told me to try it some time. Eventually, I did, and ended up discovering a whole new dimension in the ministry the Lord had called me to. We were in St. Cloud for about six months.

The Lord blessed me abundantly in the tract ministry. We spent about two months in Austin Minnesota, a few months in Osage, Iowa, at a ministry called Rennaisance – a Christian community given to ministering to ministers – and about eight months in Waterloo/Cedar Falls, Iowa.

The Lord literally gave me the streets in Waterloo, Iowa…it seemed like every person I spoke to was open and receptive to the things of God. I got to lead many people to the Lord and out of the grasp of Satan each time I went out on the streets.

Elijah was born there in our bus on the job site. He just turned 7 in June of ’99.

I had spent about four years on the road, ministering one-on-one to people with no one but Jesus to show me the ropes. Don’t get me wrong…Jesus is the perfect teacher but sometimes it got pretty frustrating, as I would begin to get the “Elijah Syndrome” (Lord, I’m the only one that’s out here, serving you). I never met another street evangelist in all that time.

Actually, I wasn’t even sure that there was such a person. I would meet a lot of people who told me they wanted to go out on the streets with me…but I never had any one actually go, with the exception of my brothers and sisters at Renaissance when they came down to Waterloo to work the streets with me a couple of times.

Then we got to Chattanooga. There are so many testimonies that could be included in each one of these sections, but the purpose of this is to just let the reader get a general idea of how we have gotten to the place that we are at now. I ended up working in Chattanooga with a Christian plumbing company, “Mainline Plumbing”. For two and a half years we worked there, and it was an ideal situation…They understood and honored my calling as an evangelist, so when the Lord would quicken me to go preach somewhere, they backed me up in it.

In Cleveland, Tennessee, we found a wonderful church which we call “home”, Living Word Fellowship,on Old Tasso Road. If you are ever in that area, visit them. Pastor Larry and his wife, LaVonna are wonderful ministers of the Lord’s grace.

Grace Elizabeth was born Birchwood, Tennessee, in our bus. I first started open air preaching at the abortion clinic in Chattanooga. The Lord teamed me up with a precious brother who carried a cross as part of his ministry. Mike Siemer and I became regular partners in ministry for the two and a half years we were in Tennessee.

He was already an open air preacher…I was better at one on one. But as I ministered at the abortion clinic, I got more and more confident to preach on the streets. Soon I was sharing the Microphone with Mike on the streets. I was convinced that I wouldn’t ever carry a cross like Mike did. It seemed so impractical. I liked the freedom of being able to go freely from person to person.

I wrote my first tract there…I found a brother that would print them inexpensively, and had ten thousand printed up.

So far I have passed out some where around 50,000 of that tract. I just got another shipment of 26,000…they should last me for a few months…

Eventually we left Tennessee, and finally headed for Florida.

We ended up in Crystal River, Florida. I was at a Bible Study shortly after we got there, and the Lord spoke to my heart that this would be the place to build a cross. This was not like the cities I was used to…there were no places where there was a lot of foot traffic, where I could pass out tracts. A visual form of evangelism would work here.

Naturally, I had to let Mike know…I knew he would get a kick out of it, since I had said I would never do that kind of ministry. On the way to the lumber company the next day, I figured I would stop at the mall and call Mike and let him know. As I was getting close to the mall, I saw a man walking down the road, carrying a cross! Wonderful Jesus! Talk about confirmation!

When I spoke to Mike on the phone, I told him what I was going to do, and what I saw. Mike said that he knew the guy, and that I should go to meet him. I did, and Brian O’Connell and I became good friends and co-laborers together.

Shortly after I built my cross, the Lord spoke to my heart again, and I asked my wife to make a robe for me. The purpose of the robe was never to imitate Jesus, although many people think that when they see me. The robe was a prophetic tool. To the Christians that stop, I tell them that the Lord is coming for a spotless bride. In Revelation 19:7-8, we are told that the Lamb’s bride is dressed in white linen, and the white linen represents the righteousness of the saints. The Word to Christ’s bride is to get ready.

Then again, wearing the white robe also serves another purpose. When people see me, whether their reaction is negative or poswitive, there is no doubt that they think of Jesus. Even if they say “Look at that nut! Who does he think he is, Jesus?” They have still thought about Jesus. It doesn’t matter what people think of me…that they think aout Jesus is important.

One day I was walking in Crystal River, and the Lord mightily blessed me with lots of opportunities to minister. Then He spoke to my heart, and said “You can do this all the way to California.” When I shared it with Michelle, she told me if that was what the Lord wanted, we would do it.

The Lord opened a lot of doors, and in August of ’96, we left on our journey “crosscountry”. For the past three years He has blessed us with being able to minister full time.

Our bus broke down in Mobile, Alabama. The Lord blessed us with a nice motorhome a short time later…He moved a brother and sister in Christ to buy a 35 foot 1988 Allegro for us. He is our Provider. If He calls us to a work He will see that it prospers. Not for our own selfish needs, but so the work can go on.

Before we left, the Lord laid down some guidelines:

1) As usual, we would never let anyone know our needs, other than God.

2) I would accept no money from anyone while I was ministering on the streets, unless the person wishing to bless me said “the Lord told me to give this to you.” That way I would be blameless in the eyes of the world.

Some people have not understood this, but one particular testimony may explain it.

I was in Panama City Beach, and a man came up to me as I was carrying the cross, and pulled out a wad of money, and tried to give it to me. I refused it, telling him I wasn’t interested in his money, but in the well being of his soul. He insisted I take the money, and I just kept on refusing. He would say, “well, how do you survive? Everyone needs money to live.” I told him that my God provides for me. He said “Oh, you mean you have a church that supports you?” I told him no. He kept on insisting that I take the money, but I wouldn’t. Finally, he pocketed his money, and listened as I ministered the gospel to him for about 45 minutes. Before he left, he told me that he believed everything I said was true, because I had refused his money.

So many people think Christianity is about money because there have been those who have preached a gospel of greed. The Lord has told me to be blameless in this area. I have had many other people who had the same reaction as this man.

I have turned hundreds of dollars down…on three or four different occasions I have refused to accept hundred dollar bills. Each time it has resulted in awesome ministry opportunities. The Lord provides amply enough for us.

3) We are to walk through every town along highway 90. This is not a marathon walk. I don’t walk in between the towns…I walk through the towns, covering every major street, doing prayer warfare as I walk, and ministering to everyone who happens along my way. Just as it took us 7 years to get to Florida, once the Lord told us to go there, so far it has taken us three years, and we haven’t even made it half way. We have started ministries, trained up others in the area of evangelism, and seen many people ask Jesus into their heart.

4) ACCOUNTABILITY IS IMPORTANT. In every town I minister, I bring myself under the authority of a local pastor. Rebelliousness is a problem in the church today…too many people have the attitude that they do not have to be accountable to any one. But there is an order in the things of God.

Why the Cross? Why the Robe?

Originally, the purpose for carrying the cross in the ministry the Lord has called me to was to serve as a visual form of evangelism. When a person sees a cross, their mind automatically associates the cross with Christianity, and the Founder of the Christian Faith, Jesus Christ.

As a Born Again child of God, my desire is to see others come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. I am firmly convinced that there is no other way to enter into the Kingdom of God, except through that saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Some people may disagree with me on this point, and seek to enter into a philosophical discussion, but what I am saying has nothing to do with philosophy; which I believe other religions are the product of.

No other religious leader lived a sinless life, and shed his or her blood so that mankind could be saved from the flames of Hell. Only Jesus Christ did that.

And no other religious leader can change a person’s life just by calling on his name.

The sight of the cross has served as a reminder to many of Jesus Christ’s unselfish sacrifice on our behalf.

Another purpose for carrying the cross is to serve as a reminder to Christians of Jesus’ words, when He said in Matt. 16:24, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”

What did Jesus mean when He said that? Christians are praying for a “revival” to sweep over this land, but we have confused the term “revival” with a couple of meetings that result in making us feel good about ourselves and our walk with the Lord.

While I carry this cross, I am also praying for a revival to sweep over this land, but I believe my understanding of a revival is quite different than most Christian’s perceptions. When you revive someone, you bring them out of an unconscious state into a conscious state.

Christians in America have been lulled to sleep and have been complacent and apathetic concerning their walk and the state of our Nation for far too long.

Jesus Christ called us to be the Light of the World. If the Light shines, darkness cannot prevail. But Christians in America have been so self-centered concerning their own well being, and seeking after their own worldly comfort, that they have forgotten to let their light shine.

As a result, an epidemic of drugs, sexually contracted diseases, gang violence, and every type of crime is sweeping across our land, because there is no standard of Hope being presented to our country. If we hope to see our nation healed of this epidemic, Christians will have to get out of their comfort zones, and be willing to let the Light of Christ shine through them. The world needs to see the transforming presence of Christ in our lives.

Countless Christians who have truly been Born Again have a testimony they can share of how Jesus Christ had transformed their lives from living in the darkness of sin to dwelling in His Light. Every truly Born Again Christian can attest to the Truth of the Bible which says: 2 Cor 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Fear of rejection or mockery silences the Christian’s testimony. Jesus said we need to die to ourselves, and not worry about that. People are in danger of Hell, and they need to be told of Christ’s Love.
True revival will come when we humble ourselves enough to let the Light of Jesus shine in our lives before men. Souls will be saved, and lives will be changed, and our nation will be healed, when we pick up our cross daily for Jesus.

Many people ask me why I wear a white robe as I carry the cross.

Contrary to what many may think, it is NOT so I can act like Jesus. If that was the case, my robe would not be white…it would be covered with blood…similar to the precious Blood my Savior shed for me and everyone else in this world.

The White Robe is a reminder to all who care to know that it is His Blood and His Blood alone that cleanses us from all our sin. It is a reminder that those who profess to be Christians have been bought with a Price (1 Cor 6:20; 7:23). That Price was a selfless act of Love by One Who lived a sinless life and Who took our sins upon Himself to redeem a self centered people from the penalty of Hell as a consequence of their sin-filled life.

It is a reminder to Christians that since we have been bought with a Price, we are to live our lives as a temple of the Holy Spirit. We are to live our lives daily seeking to glorify God in all we say and do.

Jesus tells a parable of ten virgins who were waiting for their Bridegroom (Matt. 25:1). Five were wise, and five were foolish. The five wise ones prepared themselves to be ready for their Bridegroom. The foolish ones did not. When the Bridegroom came, the wise ones entered into His chambers. The foolish ones were not ready for His coming.

In Revelation 19:8, we see that those who had made themselves ready for the marriage of the Lamb (Jesus Christ) will be clothed in fine linen, clean and white, which is the righteousness of the saints. We are called to be ready.

The White Robe is a call to my Christian brothers and sisters to prepare themselves for His Coming.

Are you living your life striving to glorify Jesus in everything you do? Do others see the Righteousness of Christ in your life? If not, you need to prepare yourself for His coming.

In Revelation 3, the Lord speaks to the angel (messenger) of the church in Sardis. He tells him that he has a reputation that he lives, yet the Lord knows that spiritually, he is dead. The Lord counsels him to repent, to prepare himself (be watchful), and to strengthen the things that remain in his relationship to God. His service to God is seriously lacking, but at the same time, He is told there are some in the church who have not defiled their garments. They have been in a state of preparedness for their Lord. The Lord says these are worthy. He says that everyone who OVERCOMES, WILL BE CLOTHED IN WHITE RAIMENT, and He will not blot their names out of the book of Life.

In Matt 10:32-33, Jesus said if we confess Him before men, He will confess us before the Father. If we deny Him before men, He will also deny us before His Father. The messenger to the church in Sardis is told that if he overcomes, Jesus will confess him before the Father and His angels. There are many who profess Him with their mouths, but in their works they deny Him.

Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

Christian; the God Who created us wants a sincere relationship with us. He wants more than just a religious acknowledgement of His existence. Are you seeking to glorify Him in your life? Do others see the Love of Jesus Christ and your love for Jesus Christ reflected in your life?

If not, you need to acknowledge your need of repentance, and prepare your heart for your Bridegroom. It will be a serious Day when we stand before the Lord.

Will you be clothed in White?

Are you prepared?

God wants you to succeed.

All you have to do is draw near to Him with a sincere heart, and He will take care of the rest.

Finally, the White Robe is a call to those who are not yet Christians to surrender their lives to Jesus, so they, too, can be clothed in White at His coming. Those who are not clothed, and who think they can make it some other way than through the shed Blood of Jesus Christ are sorely mistaken (Matt 22:11-12, John 14:6).

Time is shorter than you might think.

2 Chr 7:14 14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (KJV)

What We Believe About God

We believe in one sovereign God, co-existing in three persons Who are of one Substance, that Substance being what the Bible refers to as the Godhead: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, perfect in holiness, infinite in wisdom, unbounded in power, and measureless in love; that God is the source of all creation and that through the immediate exercise of His power all things came into being.

2Co 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

1Jo 1:3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

1Jo 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

16 Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O LORD, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting.

Isa 64:8 But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

Deu 32:6 Do ye thus requite the LORD, O foolish people and unwise? is not he thy father that hath bought thee? hath he not made thee, and established thee?

1Jo 2:24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

1Co 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

Luk 10:21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight. 22 All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

Luk 11:11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

Rev 2:8 And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;

Heb 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

1Pe 1:17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you

We Believe That Jesus Christ Was Eternally Pre-Existent And Is Co-Equal With God The Father; That He Took On Himself The Nature Of Man Through The Virgin Birth So That He Possesses Both Divine And Human Natures.

Phi 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Joh 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

Col 1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

1Ti 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and the Son; that He was active in the creation of all things and continues to be so in providence; that He convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment, and that He regenerates, sanctifies, baptizes, indwells, seals, illumines, guides and bestows His gifts upon all believers. He is revealed in the Bible as a person, referred to with the personal pronoun of “He” and “Him”, so He is a person and not an active force, or a thing.

Joh 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Joh 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
27 And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

Joh 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

1 Cor 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

2Co 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Isa 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

Isa 48:12 Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.

Psa 93:2 Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.

Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

We Believe That The Oneness And The Plurality Of Persons In The Godhead Is Revealed In The Account Of The Creation Of Man.

Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

We Believe That All Things That We See Of The Creation Were Created By Him And For Him.

1Co 8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

Eph 3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,
11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:
12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
13 Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.
14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,

Col 1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

Because Of The Preponderance Of Biblical Evidence Such As The Verses Just Quoted And Many More, We Believe That To Deny The Triunity Of God Is To Have A Spirit Of Anti-Christ

Joh 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

1Co 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

1Th 1:9 For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;
10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

1Jo 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? HE IS ANTICHRIST, THAT DENIETH THE FATHER AND THE SON.
23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

What We Believe About the Bible

We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are inspired by God, and Holy men of God were used to convey the word of God verbally and completely without error in the original writings.

2Pe 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Throughout the Bible, there is testimony given of how men were inspired by the Holy Spirit to write prophetic words for future generations to be instructed thereby.

Act 28:25 And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,

Act 3:18 But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.

Act 1:16 Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.

Mar 12:36 For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

Luk 1:70 As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:

We Believe The Entire Bible To Be Of Supreme And Final Authority In All Matters Of Faith And Life.

17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

100 I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts.
101 I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word.
102 I have not departed from thy judgments: for thou hast taught me.
103 How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
104 Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.
105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
